Junior Progression Swim Sessions at The Hewett Academy Trust School Aimed at our slightly older or faster junior members. Younger swimmers will always be considered based on their 100m swim time. Please email our junior coaches to discuss. These sessions are designed to bridge the gap between our junior swim sessions and our adult swim sessions. Juniors who currently swim in our Monday night lanes 3 & 4 can attend. If your Junior swims in our Monday night lane 2, and you are interested in them joining our Hewett sessions, please have a chat with our coaches. As a rough 100m time guide, we would suggest junior swimmers capable of swimming a continuous 100m in the region of 1min 50 secs or less would be suitable for these sessions. Please do email our coaches to discuss if you are considering these sessions for your junior.
  • Meeting point is in the pool entrance foyer.
  • Do not forget to bring your membership card as it contains emergency contact details as well as medical information.
  • Please remember water bottles to bring poolside.
  • Please remember to bring any medications your junior may require, inform the coaches and make sure your junior knows to bring them poolside and give to the coaches to look after during the session. e.g Epi-pens or Asthma inhalers
  • Please arrive 'Swim Ready', it's just easier and quicker as we share the pool and changing rooms with another Junior Swim School. You can use the changing rooms to get changed in afterwards.
  • No valuables to be left in changing rooms as the outside pool doors are not locked. Our coaches can look after any valuables and return to you after the session.
  • All outdoor footwear must be left in the foyer area.
  • Please arrive anytime from 5.45pm in order to be poolside and ready to swim at 6.00pm.
  • Spectators are welcome to stay for the session in the spectator area.
  • We require a parent to coach handover at the start and end of each session. Please bring your Junior to the coaches in the foyer and please collect them at the end of the session. To adhere to British Triathlon Safeguarding policies, we do not allow Juniors to walk to and from sessions to the car park on their own, unless they are over 16 and written permission has been requested and accepted by our coaching team.
  • If the session has to be cancelled it will be marked as 'Cancelled' here on this page and an email sent to all participants with as much notice as we can provide.
If driving please enter via HALL ROAD (opposite Latimer Road). Drive through first car park and park in the second one, then walk through to the pool. There is no access to the pool from the school site. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at JuniorCoaches@tri-anglia.co.u PLEASE NOTE: Strictly no Juniors to turn up to a session without parents booking them in via this website booking system. This is the usual LSC but with a twist - bring family and friends This February, we’re inviting TA members to support our Lakeside Challenge as we raise funds for three fantastic cancer charities: Big CKeeping Abreast, and Mission Remission. Members are welcome to bring family and friends to take part in either a 5km walk or run, or a 10km option, followed by coffee and cake. A donation is encouraged, and we’ll also be sharing information about each charity so people can learn more about the impact of their support. This is a relaxed, social event rather than a coached session, so participants take part at their own discretion and responsibility. Please bring cake for donations. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be provided.   Details are here, but essentially all you have to do is sign up, decide on 3.5K (Jnr) 5K or 10K and time the start of your run to finish as close to 10:20am as possible. These are sociable sessions and anyone of any pace can participate. Any questions please post on Facebook, email or speak to one of the coaches. Parents of Junior runners: Our volunteers are not responsible for any Juniors. Please bear in mind that you cannot see your junior all the way round the course. The route goes round the entire lake, is not marked all the way round and is open to members of the public and their dogs. Parents are responsible for their children at all times and must take whatever necessary precautions they deem appropriate to keep them safe. You may run or bike alongside your junior.

Tri-Anglia Junior coaches are Janice Coglin-Hibbert, Chris Hamlin, Caroline Noller and Cedric Bonnier SWIMMERS MUST BE AGED 8+ AND ABLE TO SWIM 100m (4 lengths) CONTINUOUS FRONT CRAWL WITH HEAD IN WATER OR HAVE PASSED THE 'LEARN TO SWIM STAGE 7 AWARD'. These are not learn to swim session. All new swimmers will need to be assessed by one of our coaches at their first session. There will be 4 lanes with up to 6 Juniors in each, depending on abilities. The lanes are coached as Lane 1 - 1 coach, Lane 2 - 1 coach, Lane 3&4 - 1 coach. This allows for good coach:swimmer ratios and more individual attention for the juniors. The sessions include front crawl technique drills and a main set, distance varies per lane with a few minutes for other skills or challenges at the end. The content of the sessions may vary with each lane. The aim is to improve each Juniors' ability to swim with progression through the lanes into Lane 4 and then progress into our Progression Swim Sessions at the Hewett Academy on Wednesday evenings and also into our Open Water Swim Sessions at Whitlingham Lake. Once Juniors reach 18 years of age they can join our adult sessions. More information:
  • Meeting point is at the pool side fire door entrance/exit.
  • All swimmers please come 'swim ready' so you can get changed poolside. This is because another Junior swimming club also use the pool before us and will be using the changing rooms as our Juniors arrive. • Please remember to bring any medications your junior may require, inform the coaches and make sure your junior knows to bring them poolside and give to the coaches to look after during the session. e.g Epi-pens or Asthma inhalers
