Before signing up for a session please read the information on the Tri-Anglia website under TRAINING, OPEN WATER SWIMMING. It is all explained there. The End to End provides a rare opportunity to swim the full length of Whitlingham Broad, which is just under one mile. Each End to End follows the same format and timings, with two mass starts, each with their own pre-swim briefing. This allows everyone the opportunity to swim E2E if they wish. The E2E swim is roughly 2 miles long. You can if you wish exit the lake at the far end, after one mile and walk back to the OEC. Shoes can be transported for you to the far end of the lake. Changing and the sign-in desk will be available from 7.45am. Safety cover moves with the pack of swimmers, this means you will only be permitted to start swimming with one of the mass starts. We cannot allow any exceptions to this rule. So please ensure you get to the lake in good time to sign-in, change and attend the relevant swim briefing. Swim Start Times 8.30am for swimmers aiming for sub 35 minute miles. Swim brief will take place at 8.25am. Junior Progression Swim sessions at The Hewett Academy Trust School Aimed at older, faster junior club members. Approx. age guide 13 – 17yrs (younger swimmers will be considered at coaches discretion based on their 100m swim time. Please email our junior coaches to discuss). This is a dedicated swim session for our older, faster junior club members. These new sessions are designed to bridge the gap between our junior swim sessions and our adult swim sessions. These are invite only progression sessions for our lane 4 Monday night junior swimmers at NHSG and for older junior club members who currently don’t swim in the junior club and can’t swim in our adult sessions because they are not old enough. As a rough 100m time guide, we would suggest junior swimmers capable of swimming a continuous 100m in the region of 1min 40 secs or less would be suitable for these sessions. Please do email our coaches to discuss if you are considering these sessions for your junior.
  • Do not forget to bring your membership card as it contains emergency contact details as well as medical information.
  • Please remember to bring any medications your junior may require, inform the coaches and make sure your junior knows to bring them poolside and give to the coaches to look after during the session. e.g Epi-pens or Asthma inhalers
  • Please arrive 'Swim Ready' as we are sharing the pool and changing rooms with another junior Swim School.
  • No valuables to be left in changing rooms. Our coaches can look after anything poolside and return to you after the session.
  • All outdoor footwear must be left in the foyer area.
  • Please arrive anytime from 5.45pm in order to be poolside and completely ready to swim at 6.01pm.
  • Spectators are welcome to stay for the session in the spectator area.
If driving please enter via HALL ROAD (opposite Latimer Road). Drive through first car park and park in the second one, then walk through to the pool. There is no access to the pool from the school site. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at JuniorCoaches@tri-anglia.co.u PLEASE NOTE: Strictly no Juniors to turn up to a session without parents booking them in via this website booking system. Please join the waiting list if the session is full. You will be notified via email if a space becomes available, but also check this page incase you miss the email. If you have booked your Junior on to the session and then they are not able to attend, please remember to remove their name(s) from the list so another Junior is able to take their place. NOTE: Ensure you sign up for the OWS session as well as this.

The session is free, but you will pay for the OWS.   CLUB TRIATHLON 2024 Club triathlons have minimal marshalling and you will have to sort a lot of things out for yourself. Put it this way … at Norwich Tri we have something like 80 marshals on the course.  For this, you will have 2 (maybe). The events follow the Norwich Triathlon SPRINT course which you can find details of at the event website: http://www.norwichtriathlon.co.uk/race-info/sprint The events START at 18:30 on a Wednesday evening.  Note that on a Wednesday, the OEC closes at 20:00, so we have to have your stuff clear of the OEC if you are going to finish after these times and with some organisation, this can be done. I will need your bikes and run gear set up in the Flint Barn field and you at the start in time, so you will need to be organised!  Also, there are things like shoes and swim bands to take care of, so listen (well, read) carefully. Set up your bike and gear in the field. Leave some form of quick on/off footwear at the swim exit ramp. Walk round to the OEC with your swim gear and membership card wearing another pair of shoes. At the OEC, leave your shoes in the big bag and give in your membership card.  You will need a WHITE hat for the event. Then you start the race.  The swim is not the same as the actual Norwich Triathlon, but fits in with the other swim-only people in the water.  A swim map is shown below. Your shoes and membership cards will be relocated to the transition area for later collection. You should now have no belongings at the OEC! As you exit the water, you shout your race number (for swim split) and hand over your swim band.  Put on you other set of shoes to cross the stony car park (or you can mince barefoot if you like) and into the grass field to your bike. This is the transition area so do your change and then run with your bike to the road to mount and ride the sprint course.  Note: there is no marshal here, so LOOK as you cross the road and mount sensibly.  Ride the course as you would do going for any ride on your own.  Even try the required foot-down at the appropriate spot! On return, dismount on the road and run into the grass field to re-rack your bike.  Shout your number here.  Then run the 5 Km course.  I will not open the gates for you so you will have to contend with the swing gate into the picnic field.  It is up to you to look out for traffic ant the road sections! Finish is back at transition (shout your number as you finish). At this point, you can reclaim your membership cards and shoes you wore to get to the OEC. So timing points are water exit, return to transition with your bike and run finish (ie: your bike split includes T1 and run spit includes T2). If you want a more detailed split, then use your watch. Marshals are at the swim start and transition only.  Maybe at the swim exit if you are lucky.  Therefore, for the majority of the event, you need to be self-aware, especially when roads are involved.

The booking list freezes at 12 noon on the session day. If you have booked your Junior on to the session and then they are not able to attend, please remember to remove their name(s) from the list so another Junior is able to take their place.
