We require NEW willing kayak marshals for our Winter Open Water Swims at Whitlingham Broad. In order to have competent kayak marshals, Whitlingham Adventure will put on a TWO HOURS (2 hours) training course for Tri-Anglia members. This will be held on Saturday 12th October 2024. Register at 08:15 for an 08:30 start. Finish at 10:30. There is a cold water swim at 11:00-12:00 so you can consider attending that also (as a swimmer or marshal to test your new skills)! All waterborne equipment will be provided, but you MUST bring a set of clothing including shoes that you are prepared to get wet as the course includes self-rescuing from the water back into the paddle craft. You will also need a set of warm clothes for afterwards. Once completed this allows you to be a kayak marshal for Tri-Anglia cold water swims and events that take place at WA, such as the Norwich Triathlon. The course cost is covered by Tri-Anglia so it is FREE OF CHARGE to our members. The course is limited to EIGHT places.  Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits provided. We do ask that following course completion that you sign up for at least one (ideally more) kayak marshal slots  to help us keep the Winter Swims going. As well as signing up to the session on this training page you MUST ALSO sign up here to the WHITLINGHAM ADVENTURE TRI-ANGLIA KAYAK MARSHALL TRAINING  and ensure that you check out. Once signed up you must commit to attending as places are in demand. If you already hold a valid national kayak qualification, or if you have attended the Norwich-Triathlon marshals training course in 2023 then you do not need to sign up, this is for new volunteers only.
