Duathlon Format – The session format is a 5k (3.1miles) road run (run 1) / followed by a 31k (19.3miles) road bike, followed by a 5k (3 miles) trail run (run 2).
Transitions from Run 1 to bike and Bike to Run 2 will both take place in the same secured transition area with bike racking.
Run 1 is a road run (although the start is on a grass field), following quiet country roads.
Bikes will be racked before the event in a secure transition area where they will be collected after run 1, and re-racked in the same position after the bike and before run 2. Transition entry and exit points will be clearly marked.
The Bike course is on open undulating roads, 31k in distance and with some of the areas longest hill climbs (total elevation is 1,550 ft).
Run 2 is a trail run, but road shoes are usually suitable (unless it is exceptionally wet) as the terrain is grass and firm gravel track.
The event will take place on live roads with traffic marshals in place at certain junctions on the bike course. The course will be signed.
